Just me and the attendent this week. One person dropped of a service wash about 15 mins ago.
I have this great Wimbledon Tennis Open app on my iPhone which updates scores every 30 secs. Following the Womens Semi-Final is still pretty exiting considering there are no pictures or sound. I could listen on Radio 5 Live or even get my little pocket tv out of mothballs.
Damm! I only remembered about it now. Never mind! I'm still up to date.
These days for the ones who care, there is absolutely no excuse to miss major events as today's mobile devices with full Internet give one access to most events.
I trully believe that roaming Internet access and what it means to each of us will be one of the major things here in the UK In the next decade!

I very much would like to come along to THE TUN this evening after a very long absense due to mostly to working on Thursdays as the store opens late on that day. However, I'm off today and wish to come.
Could anyone out there in LJ land confirm if it's still at The Melton Mowbray near Holborn Circus in the downstairs bar or have we moved? Please give directions if we have. Thanks! See you tonight. Bye! :0)

[info]lapswood
In a recording career spanning 36 years and worldwide album sales of more than 120 million, New Jersey rock singer Bruce Springsteen has established himself as one of the most enduring and distinctive voices in music. Recently reunited with his celebrated backing group, the E Street Band, he plays tonight for the first time ever at the Glastonbury Festival, and tomorrow at Hyde Park in London.

Rest of the Telegraph's article and interview transcript is here.

Laundry Blogging
Sad
[info]lapswood
This is my first Laundry Blog via iPhone. Much easier to type than alphanumeric keys of Nokia N95.
Just a couple of customers here now. Both busy folding. They were digging up the road outside the Laudromat earlier. Now there's a strong smell of Tarmac as they relay the road.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course the major news on all networks today is the untimely death at 50 of Pop Superstar, Michael Jackson of a heart attack last night in LA.
Like most of you out there, I bought the 'Thriller' album in the 80's when I was just 20 and remembering waiting up past midnight to see the world premier of the 'Thriller' video amongst all his other groundbreaking visual offerings. Also eager to hear the 'next' single release and watching footage of his concerts.

Without being an absolute fanatic, He was trully a big part of my youth and his contribution to music history will show that he was trully an inovative artist. Many Bollywood dance routines have been based on his routines for example!
Copied by some, ridiculed by others but, still loved and admired by millions, His music will live on forever.

R.I.P. Michael Jackson. You were a true original!

100 Movies in 2009 - Challenge
Cinema
[info]lapswood
Hi again Film Fans! Sorry that it's been so long since my last update. As you can see below, I have not been very busy on the Movie front recently and have only added 5 Film's in two months to my year's total. This is a pretty lame effort I know.

I did go to May's Sci-Fi London Film Festival but only went on the Sunday and just saw two Films there. Rest of the time I was just chatting to folk and meeting some of the film makers attending the Festival...

Poll #1414830 100 Movies in 2009 - April/May

Which of these have you seen?

(23) Cryptic

(25) Terminator Salvation

Among the many films I'm aiming to see this Summer will also be: Transformers - Revenge Of The Fallen, New Moon & Ice Age 3 - Dawn Of The Dinosaurs.

There will have to be many others as I'll have to get my skates on if I'm to meet my ultimate target of 100 Films by December 31st!

Remember, to keep up with this challenge, it only works out to 8.5 films per month, average. So fairly achievable for you movie buffs out there. Feel free to collect all your cinema ticket stubs to remind you of what you've seen. Good luck and good watching!

A rare afternoon here for me. Only the attendant here at the moment. I know that some of you use the app 'Twitpic' with some of your Twitter updates. It's great to see what your getting up to. Like recently at Plokta.con. I'm also having a go at an app called '12seconds' which lets you e-mail short vid updates to your feed. I'm also tinkering with Ustream direct from my mobile. It can be linked to Twitter and an update is posted when I'm broadcasting live online. I'm going to test if you guys who are following me on Twitter can see my broadcast on your pc's or laptops. At 5:45pm BST today I will be live on Ustream. If you understand my message than reply to this LJ post. Hope to hear from you!

Going to sleep now but I forgot to mention that my earlier ankle consult went very well and the surgen said he did not need to see me again unless I have some unexpected problem. He signed me off as a Guys Orthopeadic patient. Woopie!

After the Brightonomicon presentation, I came back out into the lower foyer where all of the protagonists were milling around and chatted to a some of them and got one to snap the picture you saw in my last Sci-Fi London post. Now I would still like to know the last name of the gent called, 'Ben' on my right if any of you can recall he was a big tv actor in the past...

I've been the only one here besides the attendant since I arrived. Very sunny outside. After lunch I'm travelling up to Guys Hospital to have my annual checkup with the surgen that did my ankle operation three years ago. Should be routine as there has been no deterioration in the last 12 months. On a completely different note. I was under the impression that predictive text always remembered extra words you type in when you have to use SPELL function. Recently my phone seems to be forgetting them and I have to respell them after about 2 weeks. Anyone else have this problem?

Just me here again as the attendant is downstairs somewhere in she bowls of the laundromat. Trying something a bit different this week. If you are on Twitter than click my link on the left and you can see I've been posting a few instant pics of today's laundry visit taken by my phone's camera and sent via my phone's e-mail to Twitpic. Trully instant picture blogging! Still getting to grips with how Twitter fits into my online presence but I found that it's giving me quicker access to newsfeeds and my favorite info blogs that have Tweet updates. I've done more article reading than ever. Newspapers are trully on the way out!

My Sci-Fi London Report - Part One

Sorry that it's taken nearly a week but here is my report on last sunday's visit to Sci-Fi London Film Festival. Got up early with good intentions to get to the festival before it's 11am start but still managed to leave the house only at about 10:30am. I still had an hour's journey ahead of me which took two buses, changing at Camberwell get to me to Regent Street. I snapped this shot out of the bus window as we crossed Westminster Bridge...
